In January, 2018, sexual misconduct allegations in British Columbia led Premier Christy Clark to order a review of all teachers.
The Order for an Order for the Review
The review will be in three stages.
Step 1: Reconciliation
The release of the final report from the province’s chief auditor will be the first step to to the phase. It will be issued on a Monday. There will be a news conference with Premier Christy Clark.
Step 2: Review of Business Conduct and Procedural Standards
The reviewed how the review performed. Deliberations will take place between June and December. Deliberations will continue throughout 2019.
Step 3: Review of Conference Preparations
Deliberations will take place between January and February. Deliberations will continue through March.
The review will be completed by June of 2019.
The report is expected to be released to the public in late 2019.
[Amnesty International’s] review of teacher abuse in British Columbia led the B.C. government to establish a number of measures to prevent teachers from abusing students. They include implementing mandatory teacher retraining and the release of information on reports of sexual misconduct.
The review in British Columbia follows the decision by the Colorado State Board of Education to sanction teachers for sexual misconduct, allowing prosecutors to seek criminal charges against teachers who commit sex crimes against children.
