Rapper killed in shooting on New Year’s Day

(CNN) — After being shot in L.A. County, on New Year’s Day, rapper 25-year-old Dolph — otherwise known as 25-year-old Cleveland native Dolphagne Okpala — died on Monday, according to a tweet by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office.

M’Afizur, Dolph’s partner in the L.A.-based Broner Street Records label, spoke out in the wake of the rapper’s death about how he died.

“I do not understand how such a positive energy and vibe could be taken away from my daughter’s father at the age of 25. I still wake up thinking today is the first day,” M’Afizur wrote in an Instagram post on Monday afternoon.

The Instagram post was addressed to “the Hoe Mob,” referencing rival rapper Waka Flocka Flame, the reality star Blac Chyna and “Cobra” Tha God, who were all arrested in connection with Dolph’s death.

While M’Afizur did not reference any particular incident, the boxer suggested that his focus will not be on the women or men connected to the case.

“People should be able to support an artist doing what he does and stop harassing him because they see the perp and they feel the wrath. I will not discuss the details of this situation but I will say this. I will not let this break me,” M’Afizur wrote in the post.

“Positive vibes, energy and prayers are welcome. The more positive vibes the better. Waka always said to surround yourself with positivity, it builds all your negatives. I do not fear death because I know I will be with God one day.”

Dolph’s most recent album “Going to Hell” debuted at number seven on the Billboard 200 chart in 2017.
