The Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri has commended the Amanyanabo of Twon-Brass Kingdom, His Majesty King Alfred Diete-Spiff and his Queen for restoring and maintaining lasting peace been witnessed in the area for the past two years.
Senator Diri who made the commendation during the second edition of the annual thanksgiving held on November 29, 2020 at St. Barnabas School field, noted that Twon-Brass kingdom is an important community in the state.
Represented by the Commissioner for Special Duties, Bayelsa East, Hon. Preye Brodrick, Gov. Diri acknowledged Her Majesty, the Queen of Twon-Brass kingdom, Evangelist Dr. ( Barr.) Josephine Diete-Spiff and the entire people of Brass for organizing this year’s annual thanksgiving.
He said further, “I wholeheartedly associate myself to this program and encourage the kingdom to continue with it as a service and worship of God. It is the surest way to prosperity. As you all know, as the governor, I am a product of God’s miracle and I believe God is the only way out of all situation in life.
The governor also requested the corporation and collaboration among all institution and individuals within the kingdom and enjoined every member of the kingdom to support the peace and reconciliation process of the state.
In his welcome address, King Alfred Diete-Spiff urged every member of the kingdom to open their mind and in sincerity worship, praise and thank God for all his benefits, urging them not to live just for themselves but for the sake of others.
“We should work to love one another, we should be willing to forgive one another and to encourage each other to achieve and get to the goal together as one people. This is a natural law and it is good for us to be happy but it is even better when we make somebody else happy or happier in the process of doing good.
“So my charge to you is that we should be our brother’s keepers and to work to love one another. I want you all to concentrate and communicate with God Almighty, the creator of heaven and Earth who has done so much for us this year and has granted us peace”, King Alfred said.
According to the Executive Chairman, Brass Local Government Area, Hon. Victor Isaiah, the annual thanksgiving is a welcome development, stressing that it is an encouragement to all communities in Brass local government to emulate what her Royal Majesty has done.
“Communities like Okpoma Kingdom, Odioma Kingdom from the Akassa Houses. They should emulate from what she has done. This calls for unity and I want to encourage all the people of Brass local government to be united and give thanks to God Almighty because only God can give us the desire that we need”, he said.
Preaching on the theme: “In Everything, Give Thanks”, the guest minister, Bishop, Diocese of Ikwere, Rt. Rev. Blessing Enyindah said this year’s annual thanksgiving is very important and expedient, noting that it is our prayer that what God has began to do in this land, he will surely sustain, preserve and make it to remain permanent.
Taking his sermon from the book of 1 Thessalonians 5:15-18, Rev. Enyindah said giving thanksgiving to God is to willingly, decisively acknowledge what God has done for you and what he has been doing for you.
“We are gathered in the presence of God, in the atmosphere of thanksgiving to thank God for his mercy, for doing for us as a town, as a kingdom what no man could have done.
“He delivered this kingdom from the hands of evil men. There were kidnappers, there were cultists, there were evil people messing up the community but the King and the Queen realization that the peace here today is the Lord’s doing is commendable.”
Also, the President, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Bayelsa Chapter, Archbishop Jacob Akpiri said Twon-Brass is the land that Christianity started, expressing his believe that peace will continue to reign in the land.
“I believe sincerely that this is the beginning of prosperity in this land. Favour is coming to this land because anyone that thank God attracts God’s presence. Infact by next thanksgiving I am thinking that we will have a road linking to this land. I see cars driving right from Yenagoa to this land. By our next coming, we will not stop at Nembe, we are driving straight to this land”, he noted.

Charles Daniel, Member representing Brass Constituency 1, Bayelsa State House of Assembly, HRH Beinmonyo Rufus-Spiff, His Highness Golden Williams-Sinteh, HRH Barr. David Serena-Dokubo Spiff, HRH Ralph Samuel Sambo, HRH Otunye Efebo, His Highness Henry Micah-Biterefie, Chiefs, Elders, women and youths of Twon-Brass Kingdom.
