Harps on unity and love-
The Old Boys Association of Bishop Dimeari Grammar School (BDGS) Yenagoa set 1993 session, recently pledged to upgrade the school library and give the needed succor to their old school.
The chairman of set 1993, Mr. Nwankwe tarilaye, while addressing of Association members, well wishers during the 2020 end of year party and gala night held at the Lady Daima event centre, Yenagoa disclosed that BDGS has produced some of the best brains in country.
Tarilaye stressed that because of the dedication, commitment hardworking of the school’s founding fathers a lot of professors, doctors, engineers, lawyers among other professionals have been produced by the school and appreciated members for their commitment in making the great event very unique and successful.
He commended the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State for upgrading the foremost secondary school to a model secondary school, noting that more is required from the prosperity Government.
The chairman while congratulating the commissioner for Education Hon. Gentle Emelah on his well deserved appointment, emphasized that the Association has already mapped out strategies in supporting their old school, especially, in the areas of shortage of teachers, infrastructural development , noting that the library which is the life wire of education sector would be given a priority.
Addressing the press at the event, one of the prominent members of the group set 1993, who is now a high chief of Atissa council of chiefs, His highness Jacob Frank Bonzome, Omo vie –ibe Atissa, of Atissa kingdom, thanked the Association for organizing the dinner and gala night which he affirmed has re-united members for greener pastures, stressing that no development will take place in an atmosphere of acrimony, and advocated for love, peace and unity among members in moving the Association to the next level of development.
On the issue of attendance at the event, he said was very commendable, and thanked those who came from far and near in making the occasion very colorful, also, prayed for a prosperous year 2021.
The high chief while recounting the challenges of 2020, particularly the covid-19 pandemic which ravaged the world, the flood, the end SARS protest which are now history, but very remarkable hiccups , thanked God Almighty for seeing the year through. “it was a so challenging year 2020, but as the Lord’s doing we have all overcome the travails”. So the High Chief added.
The climax of the event was wining, dining, dancing spiced with sumptuous meal to celebrate with the Association members and their families, well-wishers and other very important personalities that graced the epoch-making event.
