Cautions IYC Spokesperson against being used as agent of distablization
A pressure group under the aegis of the Niger Delta Activists Group and Excellent Leadership Foundation has accussed some top politicians in Bayelsa State of sponsoring the National Spokesperson of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Comrade Ebilade Ekerefe to distablize the peace and stability of the Niger Delta region.
National Coordinator of the group, Chief Izzi Yakiah made the allegation in Yenagoa while taking a stand on the ongoing bickering on the legality of the appointment of a sole administrator for Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) by President Mohammadu Buhari.
The group National Coordinator who is also a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state claimed that Ekerefe’s consistent media war and blackmail on the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator God’swill Akpabio and the NDDC Sole Administrator, Mr. Effiong Akwa is a deliberate attempt to fustrate the conclusion of the Forensic Audit exercise as directed by the President Buhari.
Yakiah who harped on the significance of the Forensic Audit exercise noted that it will help to rejig the interventionist agency to deliver on its mandate and challenged the national IYC image maker, Comrade Ebilade Ekerefe to channel the same energy of his marathon media advocacy to his own state, Bayelsa where successive governments are yet to record any substantive achievements in the past years
The APC chieftain also tasked the IYC Spokesman to protest against the reign of epileptic power supply, lack of potable drinking water in the state as well as non-existent framework to develop the capacity of youths across the state.
He urged IYC leaders at all levels not to hide under the umbrella of the Ijaw Youth Council to loot public funds from political leaders in the region in the guise of advocacy.
The group cautioned IYC against plot to embark on violent activities and called on critical stakeholders of the region, IYC Central Zone leaders to cue behind the resolve of the National IYC President, Mr. Peter Igbifa of deploying dialogue as a means to douse down tension associated with calls for President Buhari to appoint a substantive board of the NDDC as stated in the Act that established the interventionist agency.
