The Bayelea State House of Assembly has denied as untrue the rumour in the public domain on alledged plot by the House to impeach the Governor of Bayelea State, Senator Douye Diri.
The House described the purported rumour as unfounded and vexatious and is targeted at creating feud between the executive and the legislative arms of government.
Addressing a press conference at the Assembly Complex in Yenagoa, the Chairman House Committee on Information and member representing Ekeremor Constituency One, Barr. Tare Porri said in no time did the Assembly contemplate impeaching Senator Diri, saying that the rumour is the handiwork of distractors who did not mean well for the government.
Porri condemned in its entirety the purported rumour and warned those peddling such falsehood to desist forthwith as the Assembly will not be distracted in its quest to make laws that are geared towards improving the lives of Bayelsans.
The Assembly mouthpiece said that the state House of Assembly under the leadership of RT. Hon. Abraham Ngobere is working in partnership and synergy with the Miracle Governor to deliver on the mandate of the government.
” Let me for the umpteenth time on behalf of the 6th Assembly under the leadership of RT. Hon. Abraham Ngobere say that the 6th Assembly had never at any point contemplated of carrying out an impeachment against our highly esteemed Miracle Governor of Bayelsa State.
” As matter of fact, the said rumour is unfounded, vexatious and is target at distracting the hard working 6th Bayelsa State House of Assembly. There is no feud between the state Assembly and the executive.
” The 6th Assembly under the leadership of Abraham Ngobere is working hard in conjunction with the executive arm to deliver the dividends of democracy to Bayelsans. And rumours like this are targeted at the Assembly but we will not be distracted.
” We want to warn those distractors and peddlers of these unfounded rumours. Those who think that they can just wake up one day to accuse the House made up of 24 respected Honourable members representing the state. It quiet unfortunate that Bayelsa has to grapple with this. Bayelsa has gone through a lot so this is the time for us to rally round the Miracle Governor to deliver on his campaign promises.
” Let me again tell Bayelsans that the 24 House of Assembly members, the five APC and the 19 PDP members working closely with the inestimable, unassuming most articulate RT. Hon. Abraham Ngobere and I tell you we are united, we are together and there are no factions in the sixth Assembly. In fact we are even enjoying the prudent leadership of the Speaker and we have a clear partnership with the executive.
” Bayelsans should expect the very best from the sixth Assembly. We are very ready to set the new legislative agenda to pass laws that will add value to the lives of the people. Another very fundamental functions of the House is the oversight which the House is determined to ensure that the 2021 Appropriation Law is monitored.
